Time flies! We are in the month of February at last! February is the month that we honor our presidents, and it’s also actually African American History month, as well as the month to reconsider love. Although we can celebrate these occasions anytime, we pause and pay attention to them more because they are designated days that are in the calendar. They serve as reminders of what day or month it is and the benefits they foster.

This month we also celebrate the United Women in Faith Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024. I would like to share with you the message from our national president, ‘Ainise ‘Isama’U from the WESTWORDS Newsletter of Fall 2023. Some of the notable issues that she laid out for this new year of 2024 were:

• 1) It will be a presidential election year.
• 2) It will be a General Conference year.
• 3) It will be a year when the United Women in Faith (UWF) elect a new national board of directors.

We have much to pray for.

We also have much reason to hope. Change is an opportunity for transformation. The UWF is who we are. We are inclusive, bold, spiritual, supportive, and empowered. We influence, inspire, and impact our churches and communities. We are life changing.

This is the time to invest even more deeply in UWF. By so doing, we live out our belief that investing in women, children, and youth can change the world for better, that investing in our church can fill the world with Christ’s love, and that investing in ourselves is a cause as worthy as any other.

Sisters, this is the time to prepare for growth. One practice that helps us prepare for growth is a willingness to learn. Another is gratitude. Our World Thank Offering is one way we can share this joy. Whether you keep a “thank bank” of spare change or hop online to give, know that our collective offerings of thanksgiving will birth to more thanksgiving.

UWF, We are change makers, faith leaders, radical nurturers. Stay strong, stay faithful, stay bold.

QUERIDOS HERMANAS Y HERMANOS EN CRISTO

¡El tiempo vuela! ¡Estamos en el mes de febrero al fin! Febrero es el mes en que honramos a nuestros presidentes, y también es el mes de la historia afroamericana, así como el mes para reconsiderar el amor. Aunque podemos celebrar estas ocasiones en cualquier momento, hacemos una pausa y les prestamos más atención porque son días designados que están en el calendario. Sirven como recordatorios de qué día o mes es y los beneficios que fomentan.

Este mes también celebramos el Domingo de las Mujeres Unidas en la Fe, el 18 de febrero de 2024. Me gustaría compartirles el mensaje de nuestra presidenta nacional, ‘Ainise ‘Isama’U, del Boletín WESTWORDS del otoño de 2023. Algunos de los temas destacables que expuso para este nuevo año 2024 fueron:

• 1) Será un año de elecciones presidenciales.
• 2) Será un año de la Conferencia General de la Iglesia Metodista Unida.
• 3) Será un año en el que los miembros de la Mujeres Unidas en la Fe (UWF) elegirán una nueva junta directiva nacional.

Tenemos mucho por lo que orar.

También tenemos muchas razones para tener esperanza. El cambio es una oportunidad para la transformación. UWF es lo que somos. Somos inclusivas, valientes, espirituales, solidarias y empoderadas. Influimos, inspiramos e impactamos nuestras iglesias y comunidades. Somos cambiantes de vidas.

Este es el momento de invertir aún más profundamente en UWF. Al hacerlo, vivimos nuestra creencia de que invertir en mujeres, niños y jóvenes puede cambiar el mundo para mejor, que invertir en nuestra iglesia puede llenar el mundo con el amor de Cristo y que invertir en nosotros mismos es una causa tan digna como cualquier otra.

Hermanas, este es el momento de prepararnos para el crecimiento. Una práctica que nos ayuda a prepararnos para el crecimiento es la voluntad de aprender. Otra es la gratitud. Nuestra Ofrenda Mundial de Acción de Gracias es una forma en que podemos compartir esta alegría. Ya sea que ustedes guarden un “banco de gracias” con cambio de sobra o que vayan en línea para dar, nuestras ofrendas colectivas de acción de gracias darán lugar a más acción de gracias.

UWF, somos agentes de cambio, líderes de fe, nutridoras radicales. Manténganse fuertes, manténganse fieles, manténganse valientes.
