Greetings, sisters and brothers in Christ! 

Happy International Women’s Day this March 8, 2024! We celebrate this day to honor the brave women who fought for equal rights. We remember their resilience, bravery and strength. We have many of them in our United Women in Faith. They are full of excellent ideas and resources that, taken together, enable us to Inspire, Influence, and Impact one another.

Although we see war raging in various corners of the world, we have faith and hope that God will carry as through. We are: A Healing Community in a Hurting World! We are united, joyful, and prayerful as we cling to God.

I would like to share with you the prayer taken from  Philippians 4:6-8.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God  that passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

I would like to share with you the litany taken from the UWF midwinter event held on Saturday, February 17, at Redlands United Methodist Church.  It was published in this year’s winter edition of the Westwords newsletter.

One Voice: Today Lord, as sisters, we welcome you. We receive and thank you for your love.

Many Voices: Help us reflect that love.

One Voice: As part of your body, grafted in your love, you care for us daily.

Many Voices: Help us love each other as you love us.

One Voice: You have called from every nation, tribe, tongue, and kingdom. You have placed us into your body and dressed us in your righteousness; born of The Spirit, and united in your blood.

Many Voices: We carry your precious treasures of joy, life, love, peace, and Spirit in our earthen vessels.

One Voice: Help us see all people made in your image with grace and dignity.

Many Voices: Help us enrich others with our gifts and love.

One Voice: One day you will restore and make all things new.

Many Voices: One day we will see you face to face.

All Voices: Until then, help us to care for the earth and each other. We pray for wisdom, understanding and knowledge, boldness, compassion and strength. For as we live in earthen vessels, these earthen vessels need this earth and its people to live. Amen.

May we embrace these words as we journey through this Lenten season.

Date to be announced – CANVA Training for computer users. (CANVA is a publishing program designed to make formatting and use of computer graphics faster and better.)

A reminder: Let us plan a meeting for the UWF of Echo Park as soon as we have a definite place to worship.  Any suggestions are welcome.

¡Saludos, hermanas y hermanos en Cristo!

¡Feliz Día Internacional de la Mujer este 8 de marzo de 2024! Celebramos este día para honrar a las valientes mujeres que lucharon por la igualdad de derechos. Recordamos su resiliencia, valentía y fuerza. Tenemos muchas de ellas en nuestro programa Mujeres Unidas en la Fe. Están llenos de excelentes ideas y recursos que, en conjunto, nos permiten Inspirarnos, Influir e Impactarnos unos a otros.

Aunque vemos que la guerra se libra en varios rincones del mundo, tenemos fe y esperanza en que Dios nos llevará a cabo. Somos: ¡Una Comunidad Sanadora en un Mundo Herido! Estamos unidos, alegres y en oración mientras nos aferramos a Dios.

Me gustaría compartir con ustedes la oración tomada de Filipenses 4:6-8.

Por nada estéis angustiados, sino sean conocidas vuestras peticiones delante de Dios en toda oración y ruego, con acción de gracias. Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, guardará vuestros corazones y vuestros pensamientos en Cristo Jesús.

Por lo demás, hermanos, todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honesto, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo amable, todo lo que es de buen nombre; si hay virtud alguna, si algo digno de alabanza, en esto pensad.

Me gustaría compartir con ustedes la letanía tomada del evento de mediados de invierno de la MUF que se llevó a cabo el sábado 17 de febrero en la Iglesia Metodista Unida de Redlands. Fue publicado en la edición de invierno de este año del Boletín Westwords.

Una Voz: Hoy, Señor, como hermanas, te damos la bienvenida. Recibimos y agradecemos su amor.

Muchas voces: Ayúdanos a reflejar ese amor.

Una Voz: Como parte de tu cuerpo, injertado en tu amor, nos cuidas diariamente.

Muchas Voces: Ayúdanos a amarnos como tú nos amas.

Una voz: Has llamado de toda nación, tribu, lengua y reino. Nos has puesto en tu cuerpo y nos has revestido con tu justicia; nacidos del Espíritu, y unidos en tu sangre.

Muchas voces: Llevamos tus preciosos tesoros de alegría, vida, amor, paz y Espíritu en nuestras vasijas de barro.

Una Voz: Ayúdanos a ver a todas las personas hechas a tu imagen con gracia y dignidad.

Muchas voces: Ayúdanos a enriquecer a los demás con nuestros dones y amor.

Una Voz: Un día restaurarás y harás nuevas todas las cosas.

Muchas Voces: Un día te veremos cara a cara.

Todas las voces: Hasta entonces, ayúdanos a cuidar de la tierra y de los demás. Oramos por sabiduría, comprensión y conocimiento, audacia, compasión y fortaleza. Porque así como vivimos en vasijas de barro, estas vasijas de barro necesitan de esta tierra y de su gente para vivir. Amén.

Que abracemos estas palabras mientras viajamos a través de esta temporada de Cuaresma.
