Position Description: Church Administrator
FLSA Status: Part-time, non-exempt (16-20 hours a week)
Reports to: Senior Pastor

Echo Park United Methodist Church is a multi-cultural, multilingual, and inclusive church community in Northeast Los Angeles. It is both a Reconciling Congregation and a Sanctuary Church.
Echo Park UMC is located just north of the 101 Freeway in the heart of Echo Park, a vibrant neighborhood well-known for its diversity, open-mindedness, and creativity. Echo Park is an important hub for Los Angeles’ Indie Music scene, supports a lively arts community, and has long served as a key cultural center for immigrants coming from Central America. In addition to its own worship services and church-related activities, Echo Park UMC church sponsors or provides space for a number of activities and groups, including the Echo Park Immigration Center, META Church (Korean language), Native American United Methodist Fellowship, essential services for unhoused neighbors, twelve-step programs, cultural and community events, and the Echo Park Neighborhood Council.
Echo Park UMC seeks a Part-time Church Administrator (16-20 hour per week) to manage the general operations of the church, including communications, facilities management, IT systems management, volunteer coordination, human relations, some finances, and ministry support.
The successful candidate must be a highly organized and skillful multi-tasker, preferably with experience in non-profit and/or church management. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to interact effectively with the senior pastor, other staff, volunteers, committee members, and church and community members.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent life-experience;
- Strong administrative and management skills;
- Disciplined and self-motivated;
- Good person-to-person and communication skills – amiable, inquisitive, attentive, personable;
- Fluency in verbal and written communication in both English and Spanish;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 365, Microsoft Office Suite (minimally including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher), Adobe Acrobat, and other programs as needed;
- Proficiency in or ability to learn Google apps, email, Constant Contact, WordPress, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Zoom, PayPal, and other programs/platforms as needed;
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and up-to-date databases
- Experience with office equipment (photocopier, phone – including voicemail, shredder, computers, printers, notebooks, etc.)
- Familiarity with United Methodist procedures, processes and resources or a capacity to learn;
- Experience with California and federal human resources practices and labor laws;
- Ability to follow directions and to work with others in a team.
Additional requirements:
- Ability to drive or to access to other forms of transportation;
- Ability and willingness to work on Sunday mornings;
- Ability to remain cool and competent in addressing occasionally chaotic circumstances;
- Compassion and patience toward the unhoused and others in need.
