Access to the La Plaza Church will be limited on Sunday, March 8 due to the Los Angeles Marathon. We have, however, been assured that the El Pueblo Historical Monument will be open, and that parking lot 2 will be operating as usual.

Access from the west and from the south will be the most difficult. It appears that the best way to access parking lot 2 will be via Alameda Street. Whether you are traveling north or south on Alameda Street, which is scheduled to remain open, make a westbound turn on Los Angeles Street (toward El Pueblo and away from Union Station). Then, make a right turn onto Arcadia Street, and then make another right turn onto Main Street. At that point you will have easy access into parking lot 2 on your left. Please note: You will not be permitted to turn west onto Arcadia Street from Alameda Street.

The good news is that many of the street closures in the downtown area of Los Angeles will be open by 10:00 a.m., but we will have to play it by ear.

Please refer to the following instructions we have received from the management of the El Pueblo Historical Monument:

The 2026 LA Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The marathon begins at Dodger Stadium with various runner groups starting between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. 

There will be rolling street closures in the area beginning at 4:00 a.m. Streets are scheduled to reopen by 10:30 a.m., but may reopen sooner or later depending on the runners. In the immediate area, both Main and Los Angeles Streets will remain open to traffic. El Pueblo parking lots will operate as usual. 

North Spring Street between Cesar Chavez Ave. and Temple will be closed from approximately 4:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 8.

Vehicles traveling on Main Street (one way northbound; b/t Arcadia Street and Cesar Chavez Avenue), or vehicles exiting El Pueblo’s Parking Lot #2 (615 N. Main Street) will be directed eastbound only on Cesar Chavez Avenue due to the rolling closure.

The following intersections will also have closures:

+ Arcadia St. westbound (at Alameda).  Staff parking in the Sanchez St. gravel lot please show City ID to the DOT traffic officer to park.

+ Arcadia St. westbound (after Main St.)

+ Cesar Chavez Ave. Westbound (at both Alameda and Main Streets).

El acceso a la Iglesia de La Plaza estará limitado el domingo 8 de marzo debido al Maratón de Los Ángeles. Sin embargo, nos han asegurado que el Monumento Histórico El Pueblo estará abierto y que el estacionamiento 2 funcionará con normalidad.

El acceso desde el oeste y el sur será el más difícil. Parece que la mejor manera de acceder al estacionamiento 2 será por la calle Alameda. Ya sea que viaje hacia el norte o el sur por la calle Alameda, que permanecerá abierta, gire hacia el oeste en la calle Los Ángeles (hacia El Pueblo y alejándose de Union Station).
